Jane Eyre is a novel by Charlotte Brontë, first published in 1847. It follows its eponymous heroine from a harsh and deprived childhood through her growth into adulthood, culminating in her role as governess and her complex relationship with the brooding Mr. Rochester. The novel combines elements of gothic fiction and the coming-of-age genre (Bildungsroman), while exploring themes of social class, morality, religion, and the quest for personal integrity.

رواية جين آير تتبع حياة بطلتها جين آير، يتيمة تُنشأ في بيت خالها حيث تُعامَل بقسوة ثم تُرسَل إلى مدرسة للأيتام تعاني فيها، ثم تعمل governess (معلمة خاصّة) في قصر ثورنفيلد، حيث تقع في حب صاحب القصر غامرًا بالغموض، السيد روشستر. الرواية تجمع بين عنصر الرواية القوطيّة والتنشئة („Bildungsroman“) وتناقش قضايا مثل الاستقلال الشخصي، الطبقات الاجتماعية، الدين، والهوية.
