David Copperfield is a novel by Charles Dickens, first published in serial form between 1849 and 1850. It follows the life of the eponymous narrator from a difficult childhood after his father’s death, through his schooling and early work experiences, to his ultimate development into a writer and mature man. The novel blends the coming-of-age (Bildungsroman) genre with acute social commentary on Victorian England
